Introduction
Barry Bros. has developed a unique water treatment facility that can effectively treat liquids containing solids and provide water recycling opportunities whilst on site.
The unit is capable of holding liquid waste of up to 8,000 litres with solid concentrations ranging from 0.1% to 3%. By using traditional waste collection methods including submersible pumps and vacuum loading trucks, the treated liquid can be reused in the recycling process, providing full water recycling capabilities. This allows for less waste and water discharge and promotes full utilization of water resources.
The recycle units have the following capabilities.
- Treat or neutralize acidic and alkaline waste
- Remove suspended solids
- Reduce organic waste loads (dissolved or undissolved)
- Allows endless opportunities to recycle processed water.
Employing the Barry Bros. water recycling opportunities, can result in a reduction of waste water and associated fees, and reduced costs in pumping and transportation allowing for more efficient operations for customers.
Applications
- Water recycling plant set up at J L Murphy reserve in Port Melbourne that uses telecommunication and power pit water as an input to supply the sporting ovals in Port Melbourne.
- Water recycling plant used at the rail tunnel link at Parramatta, to remove sludge from the drilling and stormwater. Operating 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
- Water treatment of the waste water system at APM Maryvale to remove heavy sludges prior to putting water to sewer.
Corporate Citizen Benefits
The need of every Corporation to support the reduction in water consumption and the improvement of their environmental performance are key benefits.
The corresponding improvement in the corporate image as well as the benefits relating to the reduction in processing costs will improve the financial performance of any business.
