Membrane Removal using Ultra High Pressure Water

Introduction: Barry Bros. Specialised Services were contracted by Boral Asphalt to remove the membrane that bonds the roadway to the steel deck. This was undertaken by using a combination of Ultra High Pressure Water and automated High Pressure Water. The Standard of clean was critical to the new membrane and was inspected daily by Vic Roads engineering department.

> 170hp 2800 bar Water Jetting Unit
> 450 hp 1000 bar Water Jetting Unit
> Vacuum Eduction Unit x 2
> Ultra High Pressure Floor Cleaner
> Automated Rotary Joint Cleaner
 

Problem: Every year Vic Roads tenders section of road surface that needs resurfacing due to excessive drumming and the potential for the bitumen to deteriorate.

 

Solution: Remove bitumen by mechanical means then remove membrane using Ultra High Pressure water.
